Download the personalized template PDF above. Click file to unzip. Right click on PDF to Open With > Adobe Reader.

Click and highlight the wording in the PDF form fields to personalize with the name of your sweetheart and your own message on the fan.

In Adobe Reader, select File, Print (input page number to print page 2 only) and make sure Page Scaling is set to NONE.
Set paper quality/type to best on card stock paper before printing and load printer tray with card stock paper.

Then load standard white paper and print page 3 only on standard paper.

Use the paper clip to score the fold lines. The fold line guides are the blue dashed lines.

Line up the paper clip on the fold line guide, then place the ruler next to it to keep straight. Push down and slide clip along guide lines. Repeat for each fold line on both the fan handle and the fan.

Once all fold lines are scored, use the craft knife and ruler to cut out the fan handle. When cutting, keep the cut path slightly inside of the line so that you do not leave white around the edges.

You can also use scissors.

The result of the cutout of the fan handle is as shown.

Fold along each of the score lines before taping for crisp folds.

Flip over and place a piece of long double sided tape or glue on the back.

Fold along the score line and press down to flatten over the tape.

Repeat steps 6 and 7 with the bottom.

Fold and place a small piece of double sided tape on each of the small gold tabs as shown.

Use your thumb to keep the tabs down while folding in half along the score line. Press down to secure the tape on both tabs.

The result will make a pocket as shown.

Use the scissors to cut the rounded shape of the fan.

Turn the paper into the scissors.

Starting from the left side of the fan, fold along the score lines as shown.

Keep folding like an accordian across the whole fan.

Place a piece of double sided tape in the white space.

Line up the right side of the fan and place within the white space as shown and press down to secure tape.

Repeat step 15 and 16 for the left side.

Fold the handle in half while making sure the fan folds flat by pressing down and creasing a few times.

Open and close a few times to make sure the fan is folding flat and opening properly.

Insert the tab into the gold pocket to keep closed.

Give your "Fan The Flames" craft to that special someone.
