This really worked for my wife because, back when we were dating, if I said I had a surprise for her she would ask, “Can I eat it?” I learned how to cook so that I could bring her food while she was studying and spend some extra time with her.   

What really makes a meal romantic is not how fancy it is, but that you took the time to make it yourself for your beloved. Ask about any allergies beforehand if you don’t already know since getting sick from food you made is very un-romantic. 

If you already know some favorite meal or dessert choices, try recreating them at home. You can make it healthier and fresher than you will ever get than just going out to eat at a restaurant.

Tip: It’s really romantic when you clean up all of the dishes after cooking also. Cooking and cleaning? Yup. Make the kitchen your domain for one night and watch how those actions speak love.
