Art Easel - Personalized Papercraft

Turn a photo of the one you love into a pencil drawing presented on a paper craft art easel to say “You’re a masterpiece to me” or any other loving text. The text can be personalized with your own message right onto the sketch.

The pencil drawing is easily accomplished using the photo effects of PhotoFunia.com and the Photopea online photo editor all within your web browser. No additional graphic software, art skill or pencils are required.

Crafting With Paper

Get the free Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® PDF viewer to open and print this file properly on your computer. The free Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® app for iOS or Android is required to fill PDF forms if using a mobile device. A computer is much simpler for printing if you have the option. See FAQ for more information.

The template should be printed on heavy cardstock US Letter or A4 Paper sizes. See paper size comparison for more info on A4 size paper. Check printer settings in the instructions below.

Download the personalized template PDF above. Click file to unzip. Right click on PDF to Open With > Adobe Reader.

Select File > Print (page 2 only) and make sure Scale is set to 100%.

Set paper quality/type to best on cardstock paper before printing and load printer tray with cardstock paper.

Use a paper clip or bone folder to score the fold lines. The fold line guides are the blue dashed lines. Line up the paper clip on the fold line guide, then place the ruler next to it to keep straight. Push down and slide clip along guide lines.

For the legs, start at the tip of the triangle. Repeat for each fold line.

Once all fold lines are scored, use the craft knife and slowly cut straight along the outside gray lines.

If it's difficult to cut straight then use a ruler. You can also use scissors.

Fold on the score line as shown.

Place a piece of double sided tape under the fold and press the rear leg of the easel down onto the tape.

Fold the rear leg out on the score line as shown.

Fold the rear easel leg in half along the score line.

Fold and pinch with your fingers up to the triangle as shown.

Repeat for the front easel legs.

Fold the easel tray in half along the score line.

Apply double sided tape to each of the white rectangles. Center and align the tray as shown with the fold side up and press the tray into the tape to attach.

The easel is complete. The pencil drawing is next.

Go to this link PhotoFunia.com for the pencil drawing effect.

Select Choose photo to upload your photo.

Select black and white, texture, and check the box for Fade edges.

Then press the GO button.

If you do not see the Crop button under your photo, then look at the bottom left arrow as shown to minimize the advertisement.

Press the Crop button to start the pencil drawing process.

When completed, you will see the result shown. Select the Download button and look for the image in your download folder for the next step. It should start with Photofunia as the name.

Now open Photopea and select File > Open to open the file you just downloaded to your download folder on your computer.

Once the photo is opened, select Image > Image Size and change the size to inches, width to 3, (the height will auto adjust) DPI to 300, and click the OK button.

Look at the left column for the text tool (T) and the options to choose at the top.

Select Damion for font, Size 75 px, and the color of your choice. Then select the OK button.

Drag a text box rectangle near the bottom of the photo but not all the way since the text needs to clear the easel tray. Then click inside the box and start typing your message.

Use the Move tool in the left column at the top if you need to adjust the Text box position.
